About European Auto Garage

Located at 820 E 3rd St, Long Beach, CA 90802, European Auto Garage operates as an auto repair shop serving Long Beach in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Auto repair in the United States is split between independent shops, dealership service departments and national chains. Independents handle most routine work (oil changes, brakes, tune-ups, check-engine diagnostics) at lower labor rates and often specialize in one make or in imports; dealers keep factory tools, software and warranty authority; chains sell speed and standard pricing on maintenance items. Most shops charge a diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and quote parts and labor separately. Certification matters: look for ASE-certified technicians and, in many states, a state repair license posted at the counter. Written estimates are required by law in most states before work begins, and you are entitled to your old parts if you ask.

The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 8 am–5 pm. Note that it does not open on Saturday, Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (562) 366-2632. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone.

Long Beach is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Long Beach is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I cannot believe I was able to find an honest, reputable, and outstanding auto repair shop in Long Beach, a nearly impossible task. Not only am I happy with their service, I continue to go back for their top tier work. If you have a Porsche like I do, you know repairs can be tough and some elements are difficult to get to, especially when you have a mid-engine design. I do the very basics but Khuon and his team are the only ones I trust to do the real work. They have continued to provide repairs and always give it to me straight, no sugar-coating, no treating me like I know nothing. I feel confident in my car after stopping by European Auto Garage. (Funny enough, there's a European Auto in New York with this same sort of outstanding service- it must come with the name.) Seriously, I am actually blessed to have found these honest people. 100% recommend it to anyone who needs work in their European car and wants a team of engineers who continue to provide excellent service and quality work.

The owner, Khuon, really helped me in a jam with my vehicle. I had an issue that he and a mechanic helped me with promptly, so I could make my afternoon appointment and flight. He even helped to get 2 stains out of my upholstery caused by another person hours before. His wife was so nice as I waited, too. Great experience, thank you!

Avoid This Shop If You Value Your Time, Money, or Car I brought my BMW here for a no-start issue, and what followed was one of the most frustrating and unprofessional experiences I've ever had with a mechanic. The owner, Khuon, initially gave me a rough diagnosis and a price range that seemed reasonable. But once the car was in his hands, the situation went downhill fast. The car sat for weeks, and the story kept changing. First it was a camshaft sensor, then a crankshaft sensor, then timing issues, then a key problem, then no spark… all without ever addressing the real underlying problem or showing a clear, step-by-step diagnosis. He replaced parts without confirming they were bad β€” including sensors of unknown brand or origin, which he refused to identify even when asked directly. I later confirmed these were low-grade aftermarket parts, not German OEM as he had claimed. The crankshaft sensor he installed, for example, had no verifiable brand and is unlikely to last long in a BMW engine. Even worse, he failed to perform the correct diagnostics for the real issue, which turned out to be something entirely different and unrelated to all the parts he replaced. I took the car to
